Discovery Deck™
Discovery Decks are freestanding packages of
resource cards designed to enhance students' experience with the fourth-, fifth-, and
sixth-grade STC units. Each Discovery Deck reinforces science
concepts from the corresponding unit.
Each Discovery Deck is a boxed set that includes approximately 32 activity cards (9 x
12 inches) and a user's guide with a bibliography. Each deck includes:
- historical accounts
- interviews with contemporary scientists and professionals
- problem-solving scenarios
- information related to a specific topic in the STC curriculum
- updates of scientific research
- examples of how the topic relates to the real world
- simple experiments that students can work on at school or at home
Topics are presented in many different formats, including reading and language arts
activities, puzzles, and comic strips.
Each card focuses on a single topic and includes text, illustrations, and/or
photographs.
