School Districts
Each Regional Site selects local school districts for the LASER
Center. A Regional
Site may serve selected school districts in an entire state, in part of a large state, or
in several smaller states. The site first invites school districts to apply for
participation by completing an extensive written application.
In its application, a district identifies a five-member Leadership
Team. Team members must demonstrate that they collectively have the skills,
commitment, and credibility to lead a K-8 science education reform initiative in their
community. Any school district with fewer than six schools for grades K through 8 is
encouraged to form consortia with neighboring districts and apply as a single team.
